Frequently-asked questions

  1.

I have item(s) to sell, how does this work?

  1.

Bring in items on Saturday between 10am and 2pm (before noon is preferable because we open the doors for the sale at noon).

For each item, you will be required to fill out a triplicate ticket with your name, address and phone (we don’t save this information for any kind of propaganda – it is ONLY for the sale).

Make SURE your name is legible on your ticket because this is the name we write the check to.

We keep 20% of the sale.

On Sunday, come back and get either your item(s) or a check for what sold.

How much of my sale does the swap retain?

20% of the sale goes back to the swap to cover expenses and buy rescue equipment for the ski patrols.

I want my items to sell, but I am not sure what would be reasonable prices.

There will be folks helping you at check-in to price your item similar to other items.  NOTE: We do not keep a running tab of how other similar items on the floor (ie, from the ski shops) are priced.  Our recommendations come from experiences from past swaps.

I want to buy equipment, but I am not sure how to size it appropriately.

There will be people on the floor helping with questions on sizing equipment properly.

Does the swap only have used equipment?

There are ski shops represented. There is thus a combination of new and used equipment available.

What do you accept as payment?

Cash or check or credit card (a credit card will incur an extra 3% surcharge)

Can I sell AND buy at the swap?

Yes, drop off your items between 7am-2pm and then shop until you drop from noon to 8pm!

Are animals allowed in the building?

It is usually crowded, especially at the start of the swap and can be quite confusing for your pet, so it is advised to leave your animals at home (service animals, of course, are always welcome).

Is all the ‘good stuff’ gone right away?

There are a lot of good deals to be had. Many people come early to get the first shot at what is there, but there is always LOTS of skis, boots, etc, so don’t think you will miss it all if you can’t get there right at noon!

There is a big rush at noon when we open the doors. If you are interested in a more relaxed environment, the crowds are much smaller starting around 1:30.

Is there an option to negotiate prices during the sale (or change the price of the item I brought to sell once it is on the sales floor)?

No, prices remain as shown on the ticket.

I lost my green slips. How do I claim my equipment on Sunday?

Come to the swap and present your driver’s license to the worker that greets you. We will ask what time you dropped off your equipment (it will help us look through the log sheets for your ticket numbers).

I realized that I can’t make it there on Sunday. What do I do?

You can give your tickets to a friend or family member to pick up the items for you.

I forgot to show up Sunday, what happens to my equipment?

Someone will contact you within a few days after the swap is complete.

What kinds of items can I expect to find at the swap?

Skis, ski boots, ski poles, snowboards, snowboard boots, XC skis, XC boots, XC poles, as well as coats, hats, gloves, neck gators, snow pants, vests, ski bags, and boot bags. There might also be misc items like ski bindings, snowboard bindings, and roof racks  (these are not as common).
